CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW DOMESTIC TERMINAL BUILDING AND REHABILITATION OF RUNWAY 06-24 AT MALAM AMINU KANO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I. Construction of a New domestic terminal at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport was erected in 2001- 2005.

The project comprised:

  • one level concrete frame building with block wall infills, vitrified ceramic floors, aluminum and glass doors and windows, steel trussed long span aluminum roof
  • water supply and sewerage system
  • air-conditioning and ventilation
  • fire alarm and suppression
  • electrical and telecommunication system
  • security and CCTV
  • public notification displays
  • check-in and baggage management system
  • airport security scanning devices
  • external access roads, parking areas, drainage, lighting, hardscape and landscape.

II. Rehabilitation of Airport Runway 06-24, involving:

  • cold milling of existing pavement
  • intermediate and surface asphalt concrete courses
  • associated landscaping and hardscaping

Project in numbers:

  • Earthworks: 35,000 M3
  • Concrete: 1,210 M3
  • Reinforcement and structural steel: 120 T
  • Crushed aggregates: 110,000 T
  • Asphalt Concrete: 85,600 T
  • Block walls: 5600 M2
  • Roofing: 3,500 M2
  • Glass windows: 660 M2
